146th Street - Pedestrian ADA Ramp and Sidewalk Improvement Project Hamilton County, Indiana
This transportation enhancement project included sidewalk, trail, and ADA ramp enhancements from Springmill Road in Carmel to Harrison Parkway in Fishers. Services provided by First Group Engineering included survey, design, utility coordination, and construction supervision. First Group worked closely with the County and INDOT to develop a scope that fit within the maximum funding allotment for this project. The scope of the project included reconstructing ADA ramps to meet the Federal Department of Justice Requirements laid out in the Proposed Right-of-Way Access Guidelines (PROWAG). These requirements go above and beyond existing INDOT design guidelines, and as a result INDOT has started to follow PROWAG instead of their own design criteria during review of these types of projects. Other design features of this project include ADA accessible pedestrian push buttons, auditory pedestrian signal push buttons, trail reconstruction, sidewalk reconstruction, pedestrian signs and pavement markings. The design laid-out spot grades for landing areas, running grades for longitudinal slopes, and cross slopes to ensure PROWAG criteria were met.

New decorative street lights along Market Street replaced conventional lights within the project limits. A new storm sewer trunkline was installed along Market Street from just west of the intersection of Market Street and Front Street to the intersection of Market Street and Cicott Street where it connected to an existing storm sewer system.
